The tax development program is a three-year initiative to train and mentor junior tax associates in various aspects of an in-house tax function. The program aims to prepare the participants for future leadership or specialist roles in tax or finance. The program consists of different modules, each lasting about six months, covering topics such as tax basics, transfer pricing, indirect taxes, tax accounting and risk management, business development and M&A, and country tax. The program will also provide opportunities for networking, community engagement, and international exposure.
About the Role
We are looking for highly motivated university graduates or associates from tax firms, who want to start or advance their careers in an in-house tax team. If you enjoy working in a global environment and being part of a dynamic team, we look forward to receiving your application! You will start as a member of our Regional Tax center in Vienna and work closely with our colleagues around the globe.
The tax development program has the following objectives and outcomes:
- Provide a comprehensive and holistic overview of the in-house tax function and its role in the organization
- Develop technical and soft skills in various tax areas, such as compliance, planning, reporting, risk management, and advisory
- Enhance critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Expose the participants to different business units, functions, and geographies
- Build a network of peers, mentors, and senior leaders
- Foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and innovation
- Prepare the participants for future career opportunities in tax or finance
Essential requirements:
- University degree in Tax, Legal, Finance or Economics
- First experience in corporate and international tax laws
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, combined with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and learn new areas of responsibility
- Pro-active, goal and solution-oriented attitude, curious to work in an international multicultural environment
- Proficiency in English

In addition to a market-competitive base salary, we offer an attractive incentive program, a modern company pension scheme, childcare facilities, learning and development opportunities as well as worldwide career possibilities within the Novartis group. In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is € 52.320./year (on a full-time basis). We also offer a potential market oriented excess payment in line with your experience and qualifications. We are open for part-time and job-sharing models and support flexible and remote working where possible.
